A shower needs an organised plan before any visible work starts. The tile layout has to meet the tray or bath, the controls, the screen, the niche and the outside edge without leaving awkward cuts in the places people look at every morning.

Shower tiling is one of the jobs we take on most often. Preparation matters more here than almost anywhere else in the house: a shower punishes a weak or unsuitable background instead of hiding it, so we will not tile over one to save a day.

When new shower tiling makes sense

We tile showers as part of a bathroom refresh, after an enclosure changes, or once failed finishes have come out. Before we start, we check the background and the junctions and set out exactly how much preparation the quote covers, so the scope is clear before anyone commits.

Tile size changes the layout. Small formats follow detailed areas more easily but leave you more grout lines to keep clean. Larger tiles cut the number of joints but need a flatter background and more involved cuts around valves and niches, so we match the format to the wall you actually have.

A full wet room is a different job from a tiled shower enclosure. Where the floor has to run level with no tray or threshold, the whole floor takes on the waterproofing and the fall that a tray and screen would otherwise handle. Our wet room tiling page covers that work in more detail.

How we tile a shower

We start with measurements and a setting-out plan. We choose the reference lines, agree the focal areas with you and decide how the tiles finish at every edge. We then work through the preparation, fixing, cutting and grouting in the order the job needs.

Some stages need drying and curing time in between, and we build that into the programme rather than treating the shower as ready the moment the last joint is filled. We tell you when you can use it.

What shower tiling costs in Croydon

What moves the price is the area, the tile, the layout, the state of the background and the details: niches, benches, windows and controls. Removal and preparation are often a big part of the work. We quote from the full scope rather than a square-metre rate, because a square-metre rate on a shower tells you almost nothing.

Questions people ask before booking

Every project is different. These answers set expectations before the room and tiles are assessed.

Can you tile a shower niche?

Yes, where the niche is built and finished to suit the tiling system going on it. We plan its edges, joints and position during the setting out rather than working them out once the wall around it is already tiled.

How soon can a newly tiled shower be used?

That depends on the adhesive, the grout, the sealant and the system underneath them. We give you the curing time for the materials we have actually used at handover, rather than leaving you with a generic next-day assumption.

Do you work outside Croydon?

Yes. We cover South London and the surrounding areas. Send the project postcode with your enquiry and we will confirm we can get to you before anything is booked.
